Pastoral Care Visiting Team
The Pastoral Care Team is a group of people from the congregation who feel called to visit persons who are lonely, ill or shut-in. Our members are compassionate, good listeners, trustworthy and understand the importance of confidentiality. Team members visit individuals and families within our circle of care who are not able to get out: those who may be in hospital, in a senior’s residence, in a long term care facility or at home. We aim to bring comfort in the form that is needed – a light hearted conversation, a prayer (if desired) or just by being a quiet, reassuring presence.
What do we do?
We make monthly (or more frequent) visits to various homes and seniors’ facilities.
We make weekly visits to the hospital.
We meet together on the third Wednesday of every month (except July and August) in The Village Hall for fellowship, to coordinate visits and to resolve any problems that may arise.
We provide training for new members in the delivery of appropriate, effective, ethical and respectful pastoral care.
We do not:
push our own agenda (religious or otherwise) with those we visit
make decisions for those we visit
If you are interested in joining us, we welcome new members to this important Ministry. If you know of someone who would like a visit or if you would like to be visited yourself, please contact Rev. Gloria Christian, our Pastoral Care Coordinator, through the office at 250.832.3860.
